Twitter/X has served up another church-and-politics hot take, and this one came with a ₦300 million figure that will make anybody pause mid-scroll. Alex Barbir alleged that Pastor Enoch Adeboye donated funds linked to tithe payers and persecuted Christians to the Tinubu government, then branded it “an act of slavery.”
That is a weighty allegation, but the post itself provides no documents, donation records, date, or response from Pastor Adeboye, the RCCG, or the Tinubu administration. So for now, the loud part is the accusation—not independently verified proof of a donation.
The bigger question people are chewing on is whether religious leaders should ever direct church-linked funds toward government, especially when members may believe those funds are meant for welfare, missions, or humanitarian support. Money, faith and power: three things that never stay quiet online for long.
